Incredible Business Environment
You would be hard pressed to find a more productive business environment than the one in Northwest Alberta. With population growth above the national average, myriad business opportunities and the famed ‘Alberta Advantage’, this is the place to be for business.
The agriculture industry is complemented by off-season forestry work, and the potential volatilities of the oil and gas sector are tempered by Northwest Alberta’s superlative supporting services.
We continue to attract strong investment: A total of 18 projects valued at more than $88 million were in progress as of December 2004.
According to the G7-2004 Competitive Alternatives Study by KPMG, Canada is the overall cost leader among G7 countries, boasting a 9% cost advantage over the U.S. It’s even better here. With an 11% cost advantage over our neighbours to the south, Alberta, and its advantages, are alive and well!
Our incredible entrepreneurial spirit promotes an economy that is always “open for business”.
The Alberta Advantage
- No provincial sales tax
- No provincial general capital or payroll taxes
- No machinery and equipment tax
Municipal taxes in the REDI region are competitive with municipalities across the province and have been decreasing on average over the last three years.
