The REDI Region offers exceptional agricultural economic potential due to extended summer daylight hours.
The REDI Region produces:
- 21% of Alberta’s agricultural product revenues (2001)
- 65% of the region’s grain crops.
- $44 million in agriculture products (largely in the La Crete area).
The REDI Region’s 660 farms:
- Cover nearly 220,000 hectares (539,000 acres)
- Employ more than 800 farm operators
- Support many indirect businesses.
Local value-added and agricultural service businesses:
- Farm suppliers
- Trucking, Machinery & Dealerships
- Feed mills & Seed cleaning co-ops
- Grain terminals (most northerly Canadian grain elevator is in High Level)
Diverse agricultural yield includes crops and livestock including:
