The REDI Region offers exceptional agricultural economic potential due to extended summer daylight hours.

The REDI Region produces:

  • 21% of Alberta’s agricultural product revenues (2001)
  • 65% of the region’s grain crops.
  • $44 million in agriculture products (largely in the La Crete area).

The REDI Region’s 660 farms:

  • Cover nearly 220,000 hectares (539,000 acres)
  • Employ more than 800 farm operators
  • Support many indirect businesses. 

Local value-added and agricultural service businesses:

  • Farm suppliers
  • Trucking, Machinery & Dealerships
  • Feed mills & Seed cleaning co-ops
  • Grain terminals (most northerly Canadian grain elevator is in High Level)

Diverse agricultural yield includes crops and livestock including:

  • wheat, canola, oats, etc.
  • cattle, elk, bison, etc.
